- Remove silly defaulting to 4:3. Instead, compute PAR based
upon SAR of input video and canvas size.
- Update documentation to remove ambiguity over what is meant
by aspect-ratio
- Fix subpicture calculations to
(a) be much simpler,
(b) correctly calculate width and height

Qt4: synchronize X display
This should fix spurious BadWindow errors from the video displays.

There has been a few X11 error crash reports against 1.0, though I do
not know if this will fix them (could be another problem). Basically,
XFlush() is insufficient, as it does not ensure that the X server has
processed the requests.

Qt4: fix race in requestVideo and simplify
We were accessing some main interface variables from random threads
without serialization. This simply moves the blocking connection signal
from sole size setting to the whole video widget request call. In the
process, we can remove two signals. We still need a blocking connection
signal. It does not add any new deadlock case, since there was already
blocking connection signal in the same call and in the same direction.

dvb-c: somewhat working channel-scanning in linux
it checks table of frequencies that usually contains channels. Thou
dvb-c users need to check if modulation and symbol-rate are correct for
them (atleast for me modulation auto didn't work).
example commandline that worked for me:
vlc dvb:// --dvb-srate=6875000 --dvb-modulation 128

QT4: set sorting-connections by hand
Thisway playlist don't run sort when created (in case of you start vlc,
and don't set playlist visible then adding stuff. When you open playlist
it would sort the stuff).
Also remove showing sort-indicator incorrectly on start (don't show
it at all before user clicks to sort).

Fixed seeking and skipping behavior in stream_t layer.
Now seeking and skipping behave exactly the same.
It also allows forward seeking in non seekable stream by reading the data.
It closes #2994.
As it is a critical section of code, it must be carefully tested.

vlc_clone(): abide by --rt-priority and --rt-offset
This avoids using real-time when not asked. It should also fix a
pthread_create() permission failure on FreeBSD (Linux seems to ignore

mozilla: do not ship gui/macosx plugin in Safari webplugin
It is the main cause for memory leaks of VLC browser plugin for MacOS X. Every time the browser plugin is reloaded, vlc core reloads the plugins which causes all global defined objects to initialize. Since there are objects in libmacosx_plugin.dylib that are supposed to live as long as the application these are never freed. Testing is done with --enable-debug.

RTMP handshake compliance for clients
The spec says that the 2nd round of packets need to have the 1st 4 bytes be the
timestamp (potentially zero) and the next 4 bytes be zero. The bytes after that
should be random. (not necessarily cryptographically secure, just for
establishing a unique echo response in the 3rd round of packets).

Fix video delay when using alsa or oss as slaves
Decrease poll delay from 0.5 to 0.01 seconds in alsa in oss, else the
audio input would block the video input when used as an input slave.
Other accesses likely to be used as input slaves might need to be
changed. An easier solution (module-wise, harder core wise) would be to
run each slave in its own thread.

config: if read-only, refuse to save the configuration
This restores the pre-1.0.0 behaviour. With the atomic vlcrc update,
VLC managed to work-around a read-only vlcrc. Indeed, Linux (POSIX?)
allows renaming a file onto an existing read-only file, which is
then replaced (both content and meta-data). In principle, you should
put the containing directory in read-only mode to avoid this, but this
is inconvenient as .config/vlc contains other files.

skins2: For Linux, correct files that cannot be loaded because of a workaround that only makes sense on Windows.
Forcefully setting a file name with lower case was inserted to solve an issue that is only true on Windows. On Linux, upper/lower case must not be tampered with.
This resulted in skins like Orangeade.vlt failing to load their fonts on Linux.

Revert "qt4 - Make errors dialog Application Modal."
This reverts commit f4e4ec78c05a8eaceb2b8424d1ccf503e2b58ec2.
Non-modal errors are non-model errors, and we only use the error dialog
for non-modal errors (otherwise we use a critical message box). We need
the Qt4 UI to remain usable inspite of a continuous flow of error.

Made sure that our output buffer is large enough with TTA.
It allows playing multi-channels TTA and fixed a segfault as the decoder
does not check for sufficient space.

skins2(Windows): fix sporadic vlc hangings at termination
As skins2(Windows) runs in the main thread, special care must be given to playlist/input/vout termination. Up to now, vout threads kept on running with the GUI event loop no longer operational, leading to vlc hangings.

xspf: Don't nop item->psz_nam

xspf: Fix a crash on track elements without a location
A <track> can have 0 or more <location> elements. VLC doesn't like elements without a uri however, so init an element with vlc://nop. Note also that we currently only support 1 location element per track....
