I'm very proud to annunce the first release candidate stable version of W3StudioCMS plugin.
The W3sCore library is now ready with all the objects needed to manage the CMS. A lot of
bugs has been fixed during last month and a lot of tests has been written. W3studioCMS
plugin is now availble for both symfony 1.1 and symfony 1.2.

I have been working very hard since the release of W3StudioCMS 0.6.2 to refactor the 
code and make it fully extensible and overridable to give every developer the ability 
to customize every part of the CMS. I have introduced some configuration scripts to 
easily manage some parts of the application like the command buttons. You will find the 
objects under the w3sCore directory in the plugin's lib directory and the command 
scripts replaced under the w3s_script directory in the plugin's config directory.

## How to customize w3studioCMS ##

Let's assume that you want to add a new content to insert a raw text and, because of this, a new editor to manage it. To create a new content type, add a new class in the lib directory of your application and call it w3sContentManagerRawText.class.php. Open that file and add the following code:

      }

This class extends the base class w3sContentManager that manages the page's contents and defines the required function **getDefaultText()**, which defines the default value returned, when a new content is added.

Every content is instanced by a class which uses a factory design pattern to create the right Content from the required content type. This class is called w3sContentManagerFactory.class.php and it is stored in the **w3sCore/lib/content directory**. To add the new content type, copy this file into your lib directory. In this way you will replace the standard class with the one you have defined. 

Add the following case to the create function:

    case 100: 
    return new w3sContentManagerMyEditor($type, $content);
    break;

This will return an instance of your new object. Your new content type is defined by the value 100 to prevent conflicts with new contents added to CMS in the future. The new content have to be declared in the database, so add a new row to the table w3s_content_type to declare it. The id field will have the value 100 and the type_description field will have the value Raw content.

To create a new editor add a new class under the lib directory of your application and call it w3sRawContentEditor.class.php. This class will extend the w3sEditor class, which is the base class to add a content editor.

Now you have to define the required public function drawEditor. This function is called by the renderEditor function in the w3sEditor class, the function that renders the editor.

This function fills the $editorSkeleton placeholders with the needed values. **editContent** is the ajax function that saves the content. Notice that this javascript function will be redefined in the future.

Exactly as we made for the contents object, all the editors are instanced by a factory class, so we need to redefine the factory class. Copy the w3sEditorFactory.class.php into the application's lib directory and add the following code to the function Create:

    case 100: 
    return new w3sRawContentEditor($content, 'w3s_my_editor');
    break;	

The second parameter is the editor's id.

The last operation you have to do is adding the button to the actions menu. This command will insert the new content in the web page. There are some parts of the w3studioCMS' interface that are managed by yml files and one of this is the actions menu. These scripts are stored in the w3s_scripts folder, which is placed in the config directory of the sfW3studioCms plugin. Obviously these scripts can be overrided to fit your needs.

Create a new directory in the config directory of your application, call it w3s_scripts and copy the tbInteractiveMenuActions.yml into that folder.

Add this code before the button8:

Change the *[your button]* parameter with the link to the image that represents your button. The action parameter is the javascript function that is executed by clicking the button. 


**Note:** Every w3studioCMS' button is managed through the w3sButton.class.php object: see it definition to learn how to implement your commands.

Clear the cache and reload your page. Clicking the content's add button you will have the new content available and the related editor to manage it. Is that easy, isn't it?

That's all! Obviously you can extend and override every class of the w3sCore to fit your needs.
