# CoreAMI provisioning scripts

boot_core_ami Triggered by /etc/rc.local boot_core_ami is used to perform
initial actions based on specified user-data. It determines
whether or not to run puppet_init.sh(see below), pull down a
payload (which is attempts to decompress), and/or run any
commands which maybe useful for interacting with the payload.
puppet_init.sh This is the puppet first run script. By default CoreAMIs are
not configured to start puppet automatically. So,
puppet_init.sh first attempts to contact the puppet server 5
times (waiting for user-data to register), Then if a catalog can
be compiled puppet_init.sh first pulls the base yum repository
then completes a catalog run.
CloneAMI.sh Used to create a "frozen" AMI from a CoreAMI that has had a
build deployed with all necessary packages and configurations
(for autoscaling)

Node_Terminus Upon a puppetd request to the puppet server, instead of looking
to file-based puppet node configuration, Node_Terminus.py
queries the AWS REST API for all instances and creates YAML to
be used for catalog compilation
NOTE: The following cron job should be used to clear out old puppet
private keys (for nodes) to clean-up for new instances using old
instance private DNS entries. Set to run every hour and remove
keys over 1 day old.

id_to_hostname.rb (A puppet function) used to determine the index of an EC2
Instance ID in a particular Auto Scale Group. The result is an
FQDN of "domain prefix" + index + "domain suffix" which can be
used to associate an Elastic IP.
Example of use:
$wwwfqdn = id_to_hostname("www-asg", "www", $ec2_instance_id, ".example.com")
